Plasma Processing Technician

Job Summary

CSL Plasma is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Plasma Processing Technician to join our team. As a key member of our plasma collection process, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely sampling, testing, shipping, and storage of plasma collected from donors.

Main Responsibilities
  • Plasma Sampling and Testing: In compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), you will be responsible for collecting plasma samples and moving plasma units to freezer to ensure product quality.
  • Plasma Storage and Shipping: You will ensure plasma units are properly stored according to SOPs, which could include unsuitable plasma units and samples. Additionally, you will prepare shipping and unit disposal documentation.
  • Equipment Calibration and Maintenance: You will conduct daily calibration of equipment according to SOP and troubleshoot equipment failures. You will also create incident documentation and remove or replace equipment from service as needed.
  • Temperature Monitoring and Alarm Response: You will monitor freezer and refrigerator temperatures and immediately inform appropriate personnel if equipment is not functioning properly. You will also respond to and resolve freezer and/or refrigerator alarms.
  • Training and Guidance: You may provide guidance and technical training about processes and procedures to Processing Technicians and other staff as required.
  • Donor Data Recording: You will ensure the accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system as outlined in the SOPs.
  • Confidentiality and Compliance: You will maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information. You will also follow all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: Minimum of three (3) months' work experience, preferably in a medical or health provider environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Skills: Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions. Must be able to see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation.
Working Conditions
  • Physical and Mental Requirements: Ability to occasionally perform tasks while standing and walking up to 100% of time. Reach, bend, kneel, and have high level of manual dexterity. Occasionally required to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Environmental Factors: Frequently exposed to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and to blood-borne pathogens. Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment while performing specific tasks or in certain areas.
