About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Histology Technician to join our Laboratory Services Department at ChristianaCare. As a Histology Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of histology laboratory procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify specimen identification and maintain accurate records
  • Process and embed tissue specimens
  • Cut tissue blocks and prepare slides according to established procedures
  • Perform routine and special stains
  • Assist in preparation of frozen sections and special procedures
  • Maintain equipment and ensure proper functioning
  • Organize and present completed cases accurately
  • Follow all laboratory safety policies and procedures
  • Participate in training and education of new employees and students
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Histotechnology or related field
  • Five years' experience in a laboratory setting
  • ASCP certification required
  • Knowledge of histology laboratory techniques and procedures
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety, infection control, and quality assurance
  • Manual dexterity and normal color vision
  • Ability to use manual and automated equipment
