About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Radiologic Technologist to join our team at UNC Health. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine procedures and tests using radiology equipment to acquire patient diagnostic data.
  • Prepare for and assist the radiologist in completion of intricate radiographic procedures, including preparation and administration of contrast media and medications in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Perform patient assessments and provide patient care, ensuring the appropriateness of examination and assessing the quality of radiographic images.
  • Ensure that patient demographic, emulsion markers, and examination requested are correct, critique, orient, and save all pertinent images, transmit QA-ed images to PACS, and document completion and/or cancellation of all procedures in RIS.
  • Conduct routine procedures and tests using radiology equipment to acquire patient diagnostic data.
  • Perform work in a timely manner, produce quality radiographic images on a consistent and ongoing basis, analyze requests and draw appropriate conclusions for examination and action plan, review radiographic orders and images, and correlate patient demographic information to ensure accuracy.
  • Use RIS, CIS, PACS, and SMS effectively and appropriately to access information and document status of procedures, modify all necessary orders for appropriateness, complete exam in RIS System, QC, and transmit information to PACS.
  • Verify patient identity, obtain patient history relevant to examination order, verify pregnancy status before administering ionizing radiation, assess patients' physical condition and develop an action plan for performing examination, assess patients' condition to determine if additional medical personnel and/or equipment is needed, and take appropriate action.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree or completion of an accredited Radiologic Sciences Program.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiological Sciences or registry eligible and become registered within one (1) year from date of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
