Southwest Research Institute's Solar System Science & Exploration Division is a leading research organization dedicated to advancing our understanding of the solar system and beyond. Our team of experts conducts cutting-edge research in a wide range of topics, including Solar Physics, Planetary Science, Astrophysics, Origins Research, and Geophysics.
Research Objectives- Develop lunar data products to support scientific research and exploration.
- Investigate the physics and morphology of secondary crater impacts through empirical research and analysis.
- Examine the role of geology and geophysics in shaping small-body impact crater populations.
- Enhance and refine data product codes to improve functionality and efficiency.
- Conduct geologic mapping using advanced software and spacecraft images.
- Analyze data from spacecraft images and geologic mapping to produce scientific results and insights.
- Develop and apply geologic process models to compare with spacecraft data and observations.
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Planetary Science or a related field.
- 1+ years of experience with Python programming.
- Familiarity with Mathematica and ArcGIS software.
- Experience with USGS image processing software and small bodies mapping tools.
