Position Overview

  • Provides support in the daily educational activities and preparation tasks for the Early Childhood Programs, ensuring adherence to established state and national accreditation standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assists the Early Childhood Teacher in executing daily educational and activity plans tailored to students, in line with the established lesson framework.
  • Facilitates small group interactive sessions, implementing age-appropriate corrective measures and maintaining a safe and conducive learning environment.
  • Reviews upcoming lesson plans and prepares all necessary classroom materials to support lesson objectives.
  • Follows the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct and Statement of Commitment.
  • Supervises classroom and playground activities, plans and oversees meals and snacks for children, and maintains cleanliness and organization of classroom areas, toys, and equipment.
  • Supports teachers in preparing for classroom activities and assists children with personal hygiene practices.
  • Participates in various departmental and staff meetings to discuss relevant issues, concerns, and program requirements.
  • Conducts routine sanitizing and hygiene care for young children as necessary.
  • Maintains student records and engages in regular parent conferences to discuss student progress and developmental assessments.
  • Prepares newsletters and participates in monthly fire and emergency drills.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED equivalent, or current Child Development Associate (CDA) Certification while pursuing an Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, along with relevant experience with young children. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

Job Knowledge and Skills

Understanding of basic educational program principles and practices, proper food handling procedures, and developmentally appropriate activities. Ability to apply effective communication skills to maintain classroom control and establish productive relationships with young children, staff, and parents. Competence in working in environments with noise, potential exposure to contagious diseases, and rapidly changing priorities. Skills in assisting children with special needs and completing various projects and activities.

Working Conditions

Typical classroom environment. May require lifting, pushing, and pulling of office equipment and materials. Must be able to stoop, bend, squat, sit on the floor, and navigate uneven surfaces including stairs. Ability to visually and audibly assess situations to ensure health and safety. Involves moderate exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, and loud noises. Light maintenance tasks may be required.

Other Requirements

Certification in First Aid/CPR is mandatory.

Salary Range: $26,040 annually
