Importance of the Repair Specialist Role
When surgical instruments are properly maintained, healthcare professionals can concentrate on delivering optimal patient care.

STERIS provides a range of repair services tailored to meet customer needs, including mobile onsite repairs, in-house lab services, and national repair centers.



Travel Requirements:
This role may involve up to 30% overnight travel to service accounts located several hours away. All travel expenses are covered, and driving time is compensated.

To effectively support our customers in the designated area, candidates should reside in specific states.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct basic to intermediate inspections and repairs on surgical instruments utilizing grinding wheels, buffing wheels, hand tools, and soldering equipment. The complexity of repairs will vary, requiring strong manual dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Operate in various environments, including mobile repair trucks, repair labs, or hospitals, depending on customer needs. Candidates must be comfortable working in confined spaces and standing for extended periods.
  • Frequent visits to hospitals are necessary while primarily working from a mobile repair unit. Adaptability to changing weather conditions is essential.
  • Provide support across various locations within the assigned territory, aligning with service agreements and customer requirements.

Educational Requirements

High School Diploma or GED is required.

Experience Requirements

A minimum of 2 years of work experience, including at least 1 year of relevant experience, or 1 year of experience at STERIS. All experience must be verifiable. Flexibility to accommodate varying schedules, including early/late hours and occasional overnight travel. Ability to pass a DOT medical/physical examination and comply with all DOT regulations. Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record (CDL not required) and compliance with vaccination requirements. Capability to operate DOT-regulated vehicles and perform basic safety checks. Must be at least 21 years old to meet FMCSA age requirements for commercial driving. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and maneuver instrument carts as needed. Compliance with hospital/customer credentialing requirements is mandatory.*Relevant Work Experience Includes:

Hands-on repair, assembly, or product testing experience with small hand tools. Examples include small engine repair, electronics repair, carpentry, circuit board assembly, sterile processing, and automotive repair.
