Clinical Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team at OSU Physicians, Inc. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our clinical providers.
Key Responsibilities- Patient Care and Support
- Act as a team player and medical support person, completing tasks after demonstrating competencies and following established guidelines.
- Promote an efficient patient flow and assist the front office with patients, familiarizing yourself with clinic resources and escalating issues to managers and other team members when necessary.
- Data Management and Documentation
- Manage the orderly flow of data, gathering and recording information accurately and according to standards, and show initiative to obtain all required information.
- Record patient information, including family and social history, past medical history, history of present illness, and current chief complaint.
- Ensure completion of documentation required by policy and procedure, as well as documentation required by programs and/or payors relative to visit type or patient's prior medical history.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills
- Practice good communication skills, providing information to providers or responsible individuals in an orderly and timely manner, and keeping patients informed of their stay.
- Demonstrate a cooperative and positive attitude when assisting patients, and document all interactions with patients, including face-to-face and telephone conversations.
- Clinical Support and Maintenance
- Clean and restock rooms after each patient has left, ensuring that supplies and equipment are in place for required exams.
- Maintain exam rooms, nurse's station, and minor surgery areas with sufficient equipment, supplies, and cleanliness, and ensure compliance with current infection control standards.
- Equipment and Laboratory Testing
- Pre-wash and sterilize surgical equipment, and report any malfunctions to the appropriate person.
- Prepare specimens for laboratory testing, accurately labeling and recording results in the medical record.
- Administrative Support
- Assist with inventory management, arranging referrals for patients, and administering certain medications and injections under the supervision of a provider.
- Prepare vaccines logs and monthly reports, and ensure results and reports are brought to the attention of the provider with abnormal results prioritized.
- Mentorship and Training
- Mentor medical assistant externs and/or new hire medical assistants during their introductory period.
