The Forklift and Reach Truck Operator plays a crucial role in the logistics and supply chain operations by managing the receipt, transportation, and distribution of materials within the warehouse and production areas. This position involves maintaining accurate records, verifying incoming and outgoing shipments, and ensuring that materials are delivered to their designated locations efficiently.
Key Responsibilities- Facilitate internal transfers of materials within the warehouse and production zones.
- Operate industrial forklifts and reach trucks to load and unload shipments, moving items to and from storage areas, machinery, and loading docks.
- Safely transport goods packaged on pallets or in crates to specified areas.
- Ensure that materials are delivered to the correct locations without delay.
- Maintain secure loads at all times to prevent damage.
- Monitor inventory levels and report any discrepancies.
- Conduct daily pre- and post-shift inspections of equipment.
- Participate in daily safety meetings and adhere to all safety protocols.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain a clean work environment.
- Complete all necessary documentation and submit it at the end of each shift.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience operating forklifts; prior experience with reach trucks is preferred.
- Experience in a large-scale manufacturing or warehouse setting is advantageous.
- High School diploma or GED is required.
- Completion of 16 hours of Reach Truck training following 40 hours of in-house forklift training is mandatory.
- Proficient in operating reach trucks and forklifts safely in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Ability to work independently while meeting safety and quality standards.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) are beneficial.
- Good communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
This position requires the ability to perform essential duties in a high-volume manufacturing environment, which may involve exposure to noise and forklift traffic. Hearing protection is required in certain areas.
