Key Responsibilities:

- Deliver exceptional care to pediatric patients in accordance with USA Health Children’s & Women’s Hospital protocols.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary emergency department team to implement treatment plans.
- Maintain effective communication with attending physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals.
- Support licensed RNs in patient care by monitoring vital signs, reporting abnormalities, assisting with triage, and conducting routine patient care tasks.
- Aid in point-of-care testing, perform EKGs, venipuncture, and IV insertions.
- Participate as a member of the USA Health Children’s & Women’s code and Rapid Response Team.
- Collect routine laboratory specimens and assist with the admissions process.
- Transport patients to necessary units, including radiology, as required.
- Serve as a driver for the Pediatric Neonatal Transport Team.
- Uphold patient safety and a family-centered approach to care.
- Maintain an organized and well-stocked triage and treatment area.
- Assist with monitoring mental health patients and support physicians with medical procedures such as casting, splinting, and suturing.
- Ensure regular attendance and the ability to work as scheduled, including overtime as necessary.

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent, completion of an EMT-Paramedic program, and licensure as a paramedic in Alabama.
- A minimum of one year of paramedic experience is required.
- Current ACLS/BLS certification is mandatory.
- A valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets insurance requirements may be necessary for certain roles.
