Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Physical Security Systems Analyst to join our team at InsideHigherEd. As a key member of our security team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our physical security systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program and configure access control systems, alarm systems, and surveillance systems to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance.
  • Develop and implement access control policies and configurations to ensure secure communication of data between different security components.
  • Configure and optimize CCTV cameras, NVRs, and video analytics software to ensure proper functioning of video surveillance systems.
  • Program and fine-tune intrusion detection and alarm systems within the Genetec platform to ensure timely alerts and notifications for security incidents.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and updates of access control and surveillance systems to ensure software and firmware are up to date.
Requirements
  • Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Computer Science, Programming or Information Systems.
  • Three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in programming, computer systems development, design and analysis and supervision.
  • Proficiency in programming relevant to access control and video surveillance systems (e.g. Genetec, Axis, Hanwha).
  • Scripting skills for automation tasks.
  • Knowledge of security protocols and standards (e.g., HTTPS, SSL/TLS).
  • Understanding of encryption and authentication mechanisms.
  • Strong understanding of networking principles and protocols.
  • Ability to troubleshoot network-related issues.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices.
  • Understanding of potential threats to physical security systems.
