Staff Accountant Job Description

Boswell Engineering is seeking a highly skilled Staff Accountant to join our team. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for a mix of financial reporting, data analysis, and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations during the monthly close process.
  • Assist with generating monthly accounts receivable reports to ensure accurate tracking of receivables.
  • Prepare schedules and analyses required for quarterly reviews and year-end financial and FAR audits.
  • Provide assistance with payroll processing tasks, ensuring accuracy and compliance with tax requirements.
  • Use financial software and Excel for data analysis and generating reports.
  • Assist with implementing upgrades to financial software systems.
  • Identify areas for efficiency improvements in accounting processes and help establish new accounting policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
  • At least 3 years in a general accounting role or similar.
  • Strong understanding of accounting regulations and procedures.
  • Experience with financial systems and advanced Excel capabilities (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
  • Familiarity with payroll processing and related tax compliance.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical abilities.
