Maintenance Electrician Job Description

At International Auto Processing, we are seeking a skilled Maintenance Electrician to join our team. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for performing general plant electrical work, including repair, installation, and service of all electrical systems, fixtures, and apparatus.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and inspections on electrical systems, heating and air systems, pumps, and boiler controls.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions to live electrical systems as needed.
  • Complete construction projects by ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring.
  • Plan new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.
  • Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduits.
  • Pull wiring through conduit.
  • Splice wires and solder electrical components.
  • Connect wiring to install or replace lighting fixtures or other electrically powered equipment.
  • Install control apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels.
  • Connect power cables to single-phase and three-phase equipment and install proper grounding leads.
  • Test continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components.
  • Observe functioning of installed equipment or systems to detect hazards and need for adjustments or replacement.
  • Physically repair faulty equipment or systems as needed.
  • Assist with general plant maintenance as needed.
  • Cut and weld steel structural members.
  • Provide guidance and technical assistance regarding specific job functions on an ongoing basis.
  • Assist with general repair, painting, new constructions, preventative maintenance, etc., as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment and follow all policies and procedures regarding safety.
  • Use equipment such as two-way radios, battery chargers, air tanks, power tools, welders, and forklifts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED or 1+ year of work experience with no more than 2 employers.
  • Valid US Driver's License.
  • Experience operating both manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
  • Journeyman Electrician or 2+ years of experience troubleshooting and servicing electrical control systems, HVAC systems, single and three-phase wiring, and control gear.
  • Obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC Badge) issued by the Department of Homeland Security.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities.
  • Deadline and detail-oriented.
Physical Attributes:
  • Lift, push, and/or pull up to 100lbs.
  • Stand, bend, and/or kneel throughout shift.
  • Work exposed to outdoor elements such as heat, cold, rain, and/or any other conditions outdoors.
  • Work with cleaning solutions and chemicals.
