Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Pharmacist to join our team at the University of Miami. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective use of medications in our healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and supervise the operation of the centralized intravenous admixture program, with a focus on preparing and monitoring chemotherapeutic and investigational intravenous therapies.
  • Ensure the accurate and efficient preparation and delivery of total parenteral nutrition solutions, injectable chemotherapy, antibiotics, and other medications for intravenous therapy.
  • Supervise the unit-dose drug distribution program, reviewing patient profiles and new orders to prevent drug interactions and contraindications.
  • Provide current and accurate drug information to healthcare professionals and patients, including new medications, dosage requirements, indications, contraindications, pharmacology, side effects, and adverse reactions.
  • Train and supervise technical staff members, externs, and interns in established policies and procedures for our hospital and clinics.
  • Inspect nursing units and clinics to monitor the proper storage and distribution of patient floorstock, controlled drugs, and emergency medications.
  • Compound drugs by reading prescriptions or vouchers, computing dosages, weighing and measuring or mixing drugs following established pharmaceutical techniques.
  • Dispense controlled substances in accordance with strict security procedures, maintaining accurate control and inventory records and preparing dosage sheets.
Requirements
  • Current licensure in good standing in the State of Florida and a degree in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy.
  • Good organizational, problem-solving, and computer skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with all levels of UM Sylvester staff, physicians, and others.
