Job Description:

The Interventional Radiology Technologist is responsible for providing safe and efficient patient care in the Interventional Radiology department. This role involves assisting physicians in various interventional procedures, ensuring the proper functioning of equipment, and maintaining a sterile environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare patients for interventional procedures by obtaining medical histories, explaining procedures, and answering any questions to ensure patient understanding and comfort.
  • Assist physicians during interventional radiology procedures by providing necessary instruments, supplies, and technical support. This includes positioning patients appropriately and monitoring their condition throughout the procedure.
  • Operate and maintain radiographic and imaging equipment used in interventional procedures. Ensure that equipment is functioning properly and troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, including radiation safety measures, infection control standards, and departmental policies to ensure patient and staff safety.
  • Maintain accurate records of procedures, patient data, and equipment usage in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and comfort levels during procedures, providing appropriate interventions as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with the healthcare team, including radiologists, nurses, and other technologists, to deliver high-quality patient care.
  • Stay current with advances in interventional radiology technology, procedures, and best practices through ongoing education and training.
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field is required.
  • Current certification as a Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Advanced certification in Interventional Radiology (preferred but not required).
