Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize various heavy machinery, including dozers, scrapers, and loaders, for earth excavation, movement, and grading.
  • Collaborate with construction laborers and crew members to ensure proper alignment and movement of equipment, adhering to grade specifications.
  • Manage valves to regulate air and water output from compressors and pumps.
  • Operate machinery controls, including wheels and pedals, to drive equipment and manage attachments like blades and buckets.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:

  • Previous experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator is essential.
  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with supervisors and team members.
  • Understanding of signaling methods used in construction operations.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience, particularly in road, highway, and bridge construction.

Physical Requirements:

The following physical demands are necessary for successful performance in this role:

  • Regularly push and pull machinery controls, with some force required to operate cab doors.
  • Occasional light lifting of personal items and equipment.
  • Prolonged sitting while operating machinery, with frequent twisting to monitor surroundings.
  • Ability to navigate uneven terrain and work in various weather conditions.
  • Frequent climbing to access machinery and occasional crawling for inspections.
  • Forward bending and squatting may be necessary during equipment checks.
