Job Overview

Shumaker Trucking & Excavating Contractors, Inc. is a well-established company specializing in various construction and excavation projects. We are seeking a dedicated individual for the position of Gravel Tester to join our team in ensuring the quality of our aggregate materials.

Position Summary

The Gravel Tester will be responsible for obtaining samples and performing essential tests such as Sieve Analysis, Atterberg Limits, and Fracture Faces. No prior experience is required as we are willing to train a motivated candidate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct basic mathematical calculations including fractions, decimals, and multiplication.
  • Lift and carry materials weighing up to 70 lbs.
  • Obtain MSHA certification (training will be provided).
  • Work full-time with flexibility for occasional weekend shifts.
  • Assist in the setup, breakdown, and mobilization of equipment as needed.
  • Support other construction-related tasks as required.
  • Travel to various locations may be necessary, including overnight stays.
  • Complete and submit all required documentation promptly.
Qualifications
  • No prior experience necessary; training will be provided for the right candidate.
  • Strong commitment to safety and adherence to company policies and regulations.
  • Professional demeanor and respectful attitude towards colleagues and the public.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Minimal supervision required; must be self-motivated.
  • Effective communication skills in English regarding job tasks and safety standards.
  • Valid Driver's License is mandatory.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without accommodations.
  • Maintain a clean driving record.
Physical Requirements

This position involves physical demands such as repetitive movements, lifting, and working in various weather conditions. The employee must be able to walk, stand, sit, and perform manual tasks for extended periods. Exposure to outdoor elements and the ability to lift up to 100 pounds with assistance is required.
