Our 28-bed orthopedic unit at Dearborn Hospital provides collaborative 24-hour patient care for adult patients with musculoskeletal problems that may require surgical intervention. Our interdisciplinary care team includes trauma mid-level providers, physical and occupational therapists, nursing assistants, and case managers. We have 4 telemetry beds and are Joint Commission certified for hip and knee replacement surgery.

As a major teaching and research hospital, we have been advancing care since 1953. We are a Level II trauma center and have been recognized for clinical excellence and innovation in orthopedics, neurosciences, women's health, heart & vascular, and cancer care.

Scope of Work

The RN, under the ANA scope of practice, utilizes the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures.

Qualifications
  • Associates in Nursing is required.
  • Bachelors in Nursing is required within 5 years.
  • Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
  • MI Registered Nurse (RN) is required.
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) is required upon hire.
  • Specialty Certification is highly recommended within 2 years.
