Job Purpose

The Quality Technician evaluates and reports product conformance relative to established quality standards, maintaining a high degree of quality and productivity. This role requires a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a basic understanding of engineering drawings and specifications.

Essential Job Functions
  • Maintain a high awareness of personal safety at all times, keeping work in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Verify that product features match requirements defined on work orders, drawings, and/or work instructions.
  • Visually inspect product to ensure manufacturing standards are met.
  • Functionally test product to ensure proper operation.
  • Ensure appropriate safety, regulatory, and other labels are applied and straight.
  • Complete inspection records for each product inspected, document, and communicate findings to appropriate personnel.
  • Using applicable inspection procedures, inspect internal/external product for conformance to Engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Read and interpret drawings and specifications to ensure product quality.
  • Understand various production processes to ensure the highest degree of product quality.
  • Ensure inspection equipment is calibrated and repaired as necessary.
  • Maintain records of data pertaining to quality defect causes and solutions to be used in the resolution of future production problems.
  • Investigate sources and causes of inferior materials and products, both finished and in-process, and discuss with appropriate managers.
  • Inspect fixtures from the Tool Room for quality and reliability.
  • Conduct and report on incoming, in-process, and final audits.
  • Troubleshoot and determine root cause for non-conforming product.
  • Notify lead person or supervisor of any problems with procedures or equipment to maintain the highest degree of quality, inventory accuracy, and productivity.
  • Assist in SPC (Statistical Process Control) projects.
  • Assist in developing and implementing quality programs and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills Needed
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of directly related experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Basic understanding of engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of basic measuring instruments.
  • Detail-oriented.
Equipment Used

Coordinate measuring machine, precision measuring equipment, general inspection measuring tools, standard hand tools.

Working Conditions

This role will be working primarily on the production floor in a hands-on environment. Work area can be excessively noisy. Must be able to lift 35lbs. and occasionally lift 50lbs. with assistance. Work may also involve repetitive motion.
