We are seeking a highly skilled Cardiac Sonographer to join our team at Advocate Health. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing advanced cardiac ultrasound procedures and providing high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Perform complex echocardiography procedures, including M-mode, 2-D, Doppler, and Color Flow Doppler, to obtain accurate and high-quality results.
- Assist physicians in the Catheterization and Electrophysiology Labs by performing echocardiograph studies to aid in complex procedures.
- Identify and define cardiac abnormalities, extending the scope of the examination as needed, and correlating invasive and non-invasive cardiac diagnostic test results with cardiac anatomy and function.
- Prepare patients for procedures, obtain clinical history, and adapt imaging techniques to obtain comprehensive and diagnostic echocardiograms.
- Communicate clinical findings to staff, record statistics, and perform daily maintenance of the Echocardiography Lab and its equipment.
- Act as a resource to staff, physicians, and students regarding equipment, techniques, procedures, and studies to optimize patient care.
- Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS-AE) registration with Adult Echo issued by the ARDMS or Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) registration issued by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months.
- Advanced training beyond High School in Sonography and 2 years of experience in cardiovascular sonography, including experience in digital quantification.
- Advanced knowledge and ability to learn and apply complex sonographic principles, instrumentation, and techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal and patient service skills.
- Intermediate computer skills.
This position requires the ability to sit 50% and stand and walk 20% of the workday. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance. Must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
