Registered Nurse Pre-Assessment Testing Specialist

As a Registered Nurse Pre-Assessment Testing Specialist at SCA Health, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and safe transition of patients through the perioperative process. Your expertise will be instrumental in developing individualized plans of care, communicating effectively with patients and healthcare teams, and promoting a culture of safety and excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement individualized perianesthesia plans of care, taking into account patient history, surgical plan, and anesthesia protocols.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless transitions and optimal patient outcomes.
Conduct thorough interviews with pre-operative patients to gather necessary data and facilitate informed decision-making.
Review and interpret preoperative test results, notifying physicians of any abnormalities or incomplete data.
Serve as the primary contact for referral sources, directing screening and clearance of patients for procedures.
Educate patients on medications, anesthesia techniques, and surgical or procedural interventions, promoting informed consent and patient empowerment.
Demonstrate safe operation of equipment and machinery, adhering to standard precautions and protocols for reporting and correcting unsafe situations.
Administer medications safely and correctly, utilizing the 8-rights of safe medication administration.
Perform interventions to maintain wound and tissue perfusion, protect patients from infection, and manage co-morbid conditions.
Assess patient knowledge and involve them actively in decisions affecting their perioperative plan of care and rehabilitation process.
Evaluate patient progress, providing accurate and concise hand-off reports to other healthcare team members.
Delegate tasks according to state Nurse Practice Act, state board of nursing, or professional registration requirements, state laws, and job descriptions.
Document episodes of care completely, accurately, and legibly, maintaining required competencies and pursuing professional growth.
Requirements:
Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
One year of pre-op, PACU, and/or medical/surgical nursing experience preferred.
Current state licensure to practice within good standing.
Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BLS/BCLS certification.
Successful completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current ACLS certification.
Successful completion of Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course is required when pediatric care is included in the facility scope services within 90 days of employment or documentation of current PALS certification.
Specialty certification in Perioperative or perianesthesia Nursing is preferred.
Compensation:
Minimum: USD $35.00/Hr.
Maximum: USD $45.00/Hr.
