As a Medical Coding Specialist, you will be tasked with the essential role of accurately coding medical records in accordance with established coding standards, ensuring that billing processes are efficient and precise.

Your responsibilities will include reviewing medical documentation, assigning the correct diagnostic and procedural codes, and addressing any coding discrepancies that may arise. You will also assist in maintaining billing records and relevant statistics.

Key Responsibilities:
1.

Assign diagnostic and procedural codes following ICD-10, CPT, and E/M coding standards to facilitate statistical reporting for research, reimbursement, and quality care analysis.

2. Investigate and resolve any coding discrepancies. 3. Serve as a point of contact between coding standards and the assigned codes. 4. Research and prepare billing documentation for reimbursement, outpatient services, and chargebacks. 5.

Maintain account records, address inquiries, rectify inaccuracies, follow up on outstanding bills, and periodically contact insurance providers for account status updates.

6. Respond to inquiries from patients, insurance providers, and payers. 7.

Assist in preparing accounts payable for approval and submission, and generate reports on accounts receivable collections.

8. Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent. 2. AHIMA coding certification (CPC). 3. A minimum of one year of coding experience in an acute care environment or a related field. 4. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease processes. 5. Proficiency in CPT-4, E/M, and ICD-10 coding.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Previous administrative or assistant experience.
