Agricultural Inspector

The Arkansas Agriculture Department is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Agricultural Inspector to join our team. As an Agricultural Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations in the livestock and poultry industries.

• Conduct inspections of commercial poultry hatcheries, farms, and processing plants to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Monitor animal exhibitions and activities for disease detection and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Respond to animal health complaints and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Issue quarantines, permits, and prepare and submit reports as necessary.
• Perform Acceptance Quality Level (AQL) examinations on products and ensure segregation meets USDA, state, and industry standards.
• Monitor temperature and relative humidity of coolers and establish grading stations.
• Enforce provisions of the Arkansas Egg Marketing Act of 1969 and make inspections where eggs are bought, sold, offered for sale, or processed.

• The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus one year of experience in the livestock industry, agriculture, or a related field.
• Must have or be able to complete Incident Command System (ICS) training 100, 200, 700, and 800 from the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management (ADEM) or another certified trainer within six months of hire date.
• Must be able to obtain Certificate of Blood Testing of Laboratory Diagnostic Specimens for Disease Control within six months of hire date.

Frequent in-state travel, exposure to diseased livestock, manufacturing facilities/machinery, and/or occasional exposure to hazardous chemicals/substances/environments.
