Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team at Burns & McDonnell. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems for various substation projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop electrical systems for substations, including protection and control systems, physical design, and electrical clearances.
  • Work with project teams to develop complete protection, control, and monitoring systems.
  • Perform calculations for voltage drop, CT burden & saturation, lighting, and short circuit.
  • Develop relay setting database files and technical reports for relays associated with transmission lines, transformers, breakers, buses, and other devices.
  • Utilize system studies to evaluate or design protective relay and control systems for substation protection.
  • Develop protection relaying testing & commissioning plans and review testing & commissioning reports.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program.
  • Or Bachelor of Science in Electrical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
  • 7 years of electrical engineering experience, consulting preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of AC/DC fundamentals, including understanding of three-phase power systems.
  • Familiarity with microprocessor based protection and control systems.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering may be substituted for 1 year experience.
  • Successful completion of FE or EIT exam.
  • Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
