Job Title: Library Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Library Assistant to join our team at the Minnesota Judicial Branch. As a Library Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the library's operations and providing excellent customer service to our patrons.

Job Summary:

The Library Assistant will perform a wide range of library tasks, including shelving library materials, overseeing overdue materials, reviewing and redacting briefs, updating library materials, and using scanners to digitize books and papers. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work collaboratively as part of a team, and have a strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities:
  • Shelve library materials and maintain the library's collection
  • Oversee overdue materials and follow up with patrons
  • Review and redact briefs for uploading to the library's online brief archive
  • Update library materials with pocket parts
  • Use scanners to digitize books, papers, and microfiche
  • Shelf read to maintain correct order of materials
  • Perform database maintenance
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma required
  • Current enrollment in a library-related degree preferred
  • Experience working in a library preferred
Working Conditions:

This is a part-time, permanent position working 15 hours per week, Monday-Friday, during normal business hours. The successful candidate will work on-site in the Minnesota State Library at the Minnesota Judicial Center in St. Paul, Minnesota.
