Underground Infrastructure Worker Job Information

We are seeking an experienced Underground Infrastructure Worker to join our team at Fessler & Bowman Inc. This role involves the installation of storm drain, water, and utility lines, as well as setting concrete boxes and manholes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Aid in the installation of storm drain, water, and utility lines.
  • Load and unload tools and equipment.
  • Hook pipe to machines using pipe chokers.
  • Assist in setting concrete boxes and manholes, including hooking chains to boxes and guiding structures to line and grade.
  • Mortar openings around pipes in structures.
  • Mortar and brick frames and grates to grade on structures.
  • Set frames and grates on structures.
  • Remove debris from structures and pour concrete inverts.
  • Maintain safe work practices and properly wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Use cutoff saws and measuring tools to cut pipe lengths.
  • Operate walk-behind and remote compaction tools.
  • Pot hole utilities using shovels and post-hole diggers.

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of experience with the installation of waterlines, storm sewers, and/or sanitary sewers.
  • Knowledge of elevations, reading, and interpreting utility plans.
  • Understanding of trench safety.
  • Experience setting up and using pipe lasers, sight transits, and/or roto lasers, as well as other required tools for the specific work being performed.
  • Knowledge of testing procedures for all types of utilities.
  • Ability to work in deep excavations and occasional harsh weather conditions.
  • Capacity to understand English and communicate effectively.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds.

Estimated Salary: $70,000 - $90,000 per year, based on location and experience.
