Role Summary:

Be part of a dedicated team focused on delivering exceptional quality for the innovative technologies that form the foundation of our products, which consistently exceed customer expectations.

The Core I/O and Sensors division operates within the Core OS organization, overseeing the development of firmware, device drivers, and frameworks associated with sensors, human interface devices, and I/O technologies such as USB, Thunderbolt, DisplayPort, and accessory management.

This dynamic team is committed to pioneering improvements and tackling complex challenges with fresh, effective solutions.


We seek an individual who can spearhead quality assurance efforts for various Core I/O and accessory management technologies.

The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams across the organization to proactively establish and execute comprehensive test planning, implementation, and quality assessment for designated areas of responsibility.

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate exceptional communication and problem-solving abilities, coupled with a strong desire to effect positive change.

The ideal candidate will possess a high level of technical expertise, creativity, motivation, and a results-oriented mindset.

Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee testing and quality assurance for I/O technologies: Thunderbolt, USB, PCIe, and Ethernet
- Design, develop, and manage automated testing for both new and existing technologies
- Investigate and analyze issues that span hardware and software interaction layers
- Collaborate closely with engineering and project management teams to ensure high-quality releases

Key Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of operating systems fundamentals
- Proficiency in Python and C programming
- Highly motivated, creative, and organized
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability to quickly adapt to new and existing technologies
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience/skills
Additional Requirements:
- Preferred: Experience in developing, testing, or debugging device drivers, firmware, or other low-level software
- Knowledge/experience with Object-Oriented Programming principles
- Familiarity with I/O technologies (USB, PCIe, Display technologies, etc.)
- Knowledge/experience with Unix shell or other scripting languages
Compensation & Benefits:
At Apple, base salary is just one component of our comprehensive compensation package, which is determined within a specified range. This allows for growth as you advance in your role.

The base salary range for this position is between $135,400 and $250,600, with actual salary depending on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees have the opportunity to become shareholders through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.

Employees are also eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards and can purchase Apple stock at a discount through the Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
