As a Director of Nursing Education, your primary responsibility will be to oversee and implement educational initiatives for the nursing department.

Qualifications & Experience:

A nursing degree from an accredited institution is required. A current, unencumbered RN license in this state is mandatory. CPR certification is essential. A minimum of one (1) year of supervisory nursing experience in a long-term care setting is required. At least one (1) year of experience in staff education is necessary. Familiarity with supervisory roles, teaching principles, and practices is expected.

Responsibilities:

Ensure comprehensive orientation for all new employees. Facilitate job-specific orientation for Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants. Design and execute educational programs tailored to identified needs to enhance staff knowledge and skills. Create and disseminate annual and monthly educational calendars. Maintain a repository of resource materials and self-study programs for facility personnel. Accurately and promptly manage staff development records. Conduct training sessions as required by the facility. Foster effective communication and a positive work environment. Promote and support positive relationships with residents and their families. Exhibit strong leadership capabilities.

Specific Requirements:

Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language is essential. Ability to make independent decisions when necessary is required. Capacity to interact tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, and regulatory agencies is crucial. Knowledge of nursing and medical practices, as well as relevant laws and regulations pertaining to long-term care, is necessary. Understanding of privacy regulations and the ability to train staff accordingly is required. Leadership and supervisory skills, along with a collaborative spirit, are essential. Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret programs, goals, and policies for quality care is necessary. Patience, tact, a positive attitude, and enthusiasm, especially when dealing with challenging residents, are important. Willingness to explore and integrate new methods and principles into existing nursing practices is essential. Effective communication skills for emergency situations are required. Comprehensive assessment skills to uphold nursing standards are necessary.
