Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Food Service Operations Manager to join our team at Gana-A'Yoo, Limited - Antarctic Program. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the food service operations at McMurdo Station, ensuring the highest level of quality and cleanliness in food preparation and presentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate the activities of the food service team, including Sous Chefs, Bakers, and Cooks, to ensure efficient and effective food production and service.
  • Develop and implement quality control and quality assurance programs to ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Monitor and control food costs, inventory, and supplies to ensure optimal utilization and minimize waste.
  • Coach and train team members to improve their skills and knowledge in food preparation, presentation, and service.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers and stakeholders to ensure high levels of satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Collaborate with the Culinary Manager to develop and implement menus, recipes, and food production plans.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies related to food safety, sanitation, and quality assurance.
  • Perform other duties as required to ensure the smooth operation of the food service department.
Requirements
  • High school education or equivalent required; degree in culinary arts or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in food service management, with 3 years of supervisory experience in high-volume facilities.
  • Current ServSafe Food Handler certificate required; valid driver's license preferred.
  • US citizenship or permanent residency required.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with frequent exposure to extreme cold temperatures and potentially hazardous conditions. The ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects is essential.
