Manufacturing Process Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

  • Optimize manufacturing processes to support assigned production departments (Cups, Covers, Bulkan, or Litho/Flexo Services) for sustainable improvements in cost efficiency and product performance.
  • Act as a technical resource for the Department Manager, maintaining safety, product quality, and manufacturing effectiveness through daily troubleshooting and resolution of process challenges.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to address technical and quality issues while providing specialized services.
  • Lead and participate in multi-functional teams (Operators, Mechanics, Quality, Industrial Staff, R&D, Marketing, Vendors, and Customers) to resolve problems and develop new products.
  • Oversee the startup of new products and equipment, ensuring compliance with requirements and facilitating the transition to production.
  • Manage capital projects and process enhancements, supporting cost reduction initiatives through process improvements, tooling modifications, and scrap reduction.
  • Incorporate Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing principles into projects and operations, aiding the maintenance team through data analysis and reliability projects.
  • Develop and implement measurement systems for operational discipline, repeatability, and efficiency.
  • Achieve plant safety goals through proactive measures, safety audits, and improved housekeeping.
  • Apply sound engineering principles to enhance operational stability and efficiency.
  • Integrate technological advancements into daily processes while supporting production and maintenance teams in refining process parameters and standard operating procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related Technical Degree Program, or an Associate's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Technology with five years of experience in a manufacturing or process engineering role.
  • Proficient understanding of OSHA regulations and Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Strong communication skills (both oral and written) and organizational abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Familiarity with software systems including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Oracle.
  • Preferred qualifications include a degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or engineering technology, along with experience in the paper or fiberboard industry.
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, as well as EPA, Food Safety, and ISO compliance.
  • Experience with continuous improvement tools such as kaizen events and Gemba walks.
  • Prior experience in leading large-scale capital equipment projects with budget oversight.

Salary: $72-96K + DOE
