We are seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC). As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing direct patient care and supporting our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities- Assist physicians in providing direct patient care and evaluating patients in an office setting.
- Perform various clinical tasks, including phlebotomy, EKG, specimen collection, wound care, medication administration, and vital signs.
- Maintain supplies and schedule patient appointments.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Certificate of training from a nationally recognized Medical Assistant program.
- Heart Saver (CPR) certification.
- National Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
- At least one year of experience as a Medical Assistant or successful completion of the GBMA externship program.
- National Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant may be substituted for years of experience.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Skills in using techniques for phlebotomy, EKG, specimen collection, medication administration, and taking vital signs.
- Ability to distinguish normal from abnormal diagnostic results.
- Ability to pass a medication calculation test with an 85% or better prior to hire.
