About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Advanced Oncology Clinician to join our Duke Raleigh GI Medical Oncology team.

The ideal candidate has exceptional internal medicine skills and oncology experience. They will work with a multidisciplinary team providing direct patient care services, promoting high standards of patient care throughout the continuum of cancer diagnosis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Elicit detailed and accurate patient histories and perform thorough physical examinations.
  • Order appropriate diagnostic imaging and tests to determine medical and post-treatment diagnoses, patient conditions, treatment toxicities.
  • Formulate appropriate treatment plans with critical thinking skills and high-level clinical judgment, including prescribing appropriate medications.
  • Chart patient progress, maintaining detailed and accurate health records.
  • Participate in clinical research projects and understand the importance of documentation of toxicities and data collection.
  • Communicate among multi-disciplinary teams to support patient care.
  • Collaborate, support, and build strong relationships with supervising, back-up supervising physicians, APP colleagues, and team members.
  • Participate in education of patients, family members, new staff, students, and other learners.
  • See scheduled and unscheduled patients.
  • Attend program required meetings.
  • Maintain up-to-date clinical and professional knowledge via approved CME.
  • Protect patient confidentiality, maintain ethics, and abide by North Carolina laws and Duke Health System policies.
Requirements
  • Nurse Practitioners: Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, with a Master's degree in Nursing.
  • Physician Assistants: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree is strongly preferred.
Certifications
  • Physician Assistant Certification.
  • Nurse Practitioner Licensure and Certification.
  • Licensed in the State of North Carolina.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) is required.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) is preferred.
Salary Information

$80,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications, offering a competitive salary for this role.
