Key ResponsibilitiesThe Respiratory Therapist is responsible for coordinating and delivering exceptional, patient-focused respiratory care in alignment with departmental standards and practices. Key responsibilities include:
- Administering a variety of diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures.
- Monitoring patients on both invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation.
- Responding to critical situations such as cardiopulmonary arrests and trauma activations.
- Maintaining and managing respiratory equipment.
- Providing specialized services within the department.
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Graduation from a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) approved program.
Experience:
- Preferred: One year of experience in critical care.
- Experience with neonatal and pediatric critical care is advantageous.
Licensure/Certification:
- Current Virginia Licensed Respiratory Therapist.
- NBRC credentials for Registered Respiratory Therapist.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
- NRP and PALS certifications.
