Position Overview:

As a vital member of the US Oncology, Inc. team, the Clinical Nurse Specialist in Gynecological Oncology plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional patient care.

This position involves providing comprehensive nursing services to patients, ensuring adherence to both national and company standards for specialty regulations.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a profound understanding of the physiological, psychological, and developmental needs of patients across various age groups, including late adolescence, adulthood, middle age, and the elderly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate patient care to ensure continuity and quality.
  • Conduct thorough health assessments by engaging with patients to gather medical histories and current health statuses.
  • Document nursing assessments and interventions accurately.
  • Review and communicate health assessment results, including laboratory and radiographic data, to the healthcare provider.
  • Identify patient and family needs, providing education and instructional materials as necessary.
  • Administer therapies under the supervision of a physician, ensuring all pre-authorizations and consent forms are secured.
  • Maintain precise documentation of patient care and treatments delivered.
  • Understand reimbursement procedures and ensure accurate charge capture.
  • Follow safety guidelines when handling hazardous materials and biohazardous waste.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained according to quality control standards.
  • Facilitate smooth clinical operations and enhance patient care experiences.
  • Manage medication refill requests and maintain accurate patient records.
  • Coordinate consultations, diagnostic tests, referrals, and future appointments for patients.
  • Triaging patient inquiries and documenting relevant information in patient charts.
  • Promote effective communication between patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Assist patients in accessing community resources.
  • Collaborate with clinical research initiatives.
  • Serve as a resource for LPNs/LVNs and medical assistants.
  • Provide nursing coverage for satellite offices as required.
  • Engage in professional development and maintain current knowledge in oncology nursing through ongoing education.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Graduate from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
  • Licensure: Current RN state license and registration with the State Board of Nursing.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of nursing experience, with at least one year in oncology preferred.
  • Certification: Oncology certification is preferred.

Note: This role may involve exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, and other conditions typical of an oncology clinic environment.
