Key Responsibilities- Design and Development: Supervise and perform the design, development, and production of thin film coated optics, with a focus on improving process, equipment, materials, training, and methods of fabrication.
- Leadership and Collaboration: Lead and contribute to all aspects of custom thin film manufacturing, including requirement definition, new product development, cost estimation and quoting, optical coating design, mechanical stress analysis, manufacturing instructions, fixture design, test plans, and data analysis.
- Process Improvement: Establish and take ownership of process metrics, develop new processes to improve product quality and efficiency, and ensure all necessary process documentation exists and resides in our ERP system.
- Equipment and Capital Projects: Specify new equipment needs, oversee and validate new equipment and process installation, and initiate, track, and validate capital projects.
- Customer Interface: Interface regularly with customers to support in-process and future slated work, help resolve customer concerns, and provide technical support.
- Tooling and Masking Design: Design tooling and masking for thin film coating applications.
- Commercial Support: Support the inside sales team and commercial teams on quoting process and customer needs.
- Education: Minimum of a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, with a bachelor's degree and master's degree in engineering discipline preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in optical coating, with optics and optical systems background.
- Skills: Strong mathematical background and experience with SPC, with Lean Six Sigma or Green or Black Belt Certifications preferred.
- Security Clearance: This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance, with non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance.
