Job Summary
Halifax Health is seeking a Medical Coding Intern for our Registered Apprenticeship Program. This individual will be responsible for completing on-the-job training and related technical instruction intended to prepare them for transition into a Coding Specialist role upon successful completion of the program.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and implementation of coding policies and procedures
- Conduct medical record reviews and identify areas for improvement
- Develop and maintain accurate and complete coding records
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely coding
- Stay up-to-date with changes in coding regulations and guidelines
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Interest in Medical Coding and obtaining the CPC, CPC-A, and other technical certifications
- General knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the medical coding field
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
Preferred Qualifications
- Some medical coding knowledge or coursework
- Experience working in a healthcare setting
