Medical Coding Specialist

Halifax Health is seeking a Medical Coding Intern to join our Registered Apprenticeship Program.
This role involves completing on-the-job training and related technical instruction to prepare for a Coding Specialist position.
Responsibilities include:
- Medical records assessments and charging
- Learning and mastering medical coding tasks
- Enrolling in and completing courses in CPT Coding, Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology, and Disease Pathology
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Interest in Medical Coding and obtaining CPC, CPC-A, and other technical certifications
- Strong interpersonal and time management skills
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Explain hospital visits and identify elements of complete medical records
- Identify steps of the Charging process and demonstrate proficiency in Excel spreadsheets
- Communicate and work with other departments to obtain missing documentation and charges
