The Bronx Psychiatric Center is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Supervisor to lead and coordinate maintenance, repair, and construction operations within the facility.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates may be eligible for the Maintenance Supervisor 3 position under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (NY HELPS) program if they possess 2 years of second-level supervisory experience in the maintenance and operation of a physical plant, building construction, or renovation and repair projects.

*Second-level supervisory experience requires direct oversight of workers who also supervise others.

Alternatively, candidates may qualify for a competitive class appointment if they are reachable on the current Maintenance Supervisor 3 eligible list.

Current State Service employees may be considered for transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

In accordance with Section 52.7 of the Civil Service Law, this notice informs all employees of the Office of Mental Health of our intention to conduct a non-competitive promotion examination for the Maintenance Supervisor 3 position.

A permanent appointment may be made through non-competitive promotion if the applicant meets the position's minimum qualifications and fulfills all requirements.

The promotion field for this position includes candidates with 1 year of permanent service as a Maintenance Supervisor 2.

Duties Description:

As a Facilities Maintenance Supervisor, your responsibilities will include overseeing the work of skilled trades, semi-skilled, and unskilled personnel, which involves:



  • Assessing maintenance requests to identify necessary materials, equipment, and staffing
  • Planning and executing all rehabilitation and construction initiatives
  • Implementing and maintaining a preventative maintenance program
  • Conducting inspections of ongoing and completed work to ensure compliance with regulations and codes

This position is eligible for the Downstate Adjustment of $3,400. Some roles may require additional credentials or a background check to verify identity.
