Job Title: Research and Development Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated part-time Research and Development Assistant to join our team at The J. Paul Getty Trust. As a Research and Development Assistant, you will be responsible for conducting research in special collections and contributing to the conceptual development of projects by organizing documentation, searching for texts, writing literature reviews, and more.

About the Job:

  • Conduct research in special collections and contribute to project development
  • Organize documentation, search for texts, write literature reviews, and request images for exhibitions and publications
  • Proofread, edit, and translate as needed
  • Assist with creating project websites and PowerPoint presentations
  • Copyedit essays, author biographies, endnotes, and assist with organizing art programs for publications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in art history or related field; MA/Ph.D. candidate/degree in Art History, Library Science, or a related humanities field preferred
  • 0-2 years research experience; previous experience in dealing with rare books and primary archival materials preferred
  • Working knowledge in at least one foreign language; conducting research in modern European languages is essential and knowledge of Latin highly desirable

Compensation:

$26.71 per hour
