Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team at the Cleveland Clinic. As a Certified Hand Therapist, you will have the opportunity to work with patients who require physical, emotional, cognitive, and/or psychosocial rehabilitation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and treat patients with physical, emotional, cognitive, and/or psychosocial deficits that impact their ability to perform independent living skills.
  • Assess patients' ability to safely and effectively perform independent living skills and design an appropriate plan of care, including the type and frequency of treatment.
  • Implement the treatment plan using appropriate modalities and document subjective and objective findings of patient progress.
  • Educate patients and their families/caregivers about patient deficits.
  • Direct and supervise the activities of support personnel.
  • Act as a clinical instructor or participate in the education and evaluation of students.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Graduate of an Occupational Therapy Program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
  • Current Ohio Licensure as an Occupational Therapist (OT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers.
  • Certified Hand Therapist highly preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk without assistive device and to maintain balance despite sudden load in order to support patients from falling.
  • Ability to meet physical demands characterized at the heavy level defined by 1993 Leonard Matheson and Ministry of Labor.
  • Ability to lift and reach with arms sufficiently to lift patients' arms and legs during therapeutic treatment programs.
  • Sensation of touch and manual dexterity to palpate muscle tension or to monitor patients' pulses.
  • Visual acuity to observe patients' gross and fine motor movements in order to analyze these movements and to read all patient monitors.
  • Ability to speak clearly enough to instruct patients and families.
  • Ability to hear at a conversational level to understand patients' descriptions of symptoms and responses to treatment.
