JOB OBJECTIVE:

To design, deliver, and assess educational programs for students with special needs, focusing on academic, behavioral, and social development to facilitate their transition back to mainstream educational settings.

EMPLOYMENT TERMS:

This role is a nine and one-fourth month contract, encompassing 190 working days, along with a comprehensive benefits package. NOTE: Salary placement will be determined based on prior experience and the district's established salary guidelines. FLSA: EXEMPT.

TEACHER SALARY STRUCTURE

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. A bachelor's degree in special education; a master's degree is preferred.
  2. Must hold valid certification in special education.
  3. Demonstrated proficiency in developing individualized education plans (IEPs).
  4. Proven ability in classroom management techniques.
  5. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  6. Commitment to providing high-quality inclusive education.
Alternative qualifications may be considered as determined by the Superintendent.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following responsibilities outline the essential functions of this position. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties associated with this role.

  3. Monitors and records student progress.
  4. Conducts classes as scheduled.

MENTAL FUNCTIONS, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

While executing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, ascend and descend stairs, operate hand and foot controls, communicate via telephone, and write. Occasionally, the employee may need to lift and/or move items weighing up to twenty (20) pounds or more. This role requires accurate auditory perception, near and far vision, depth perception, and the ability to handle educational materials and provide verbal information. The employee must be able to fulfill the daily contracted hours and maintain regular attendance throughout the contract period. Additional skills and knowledge may be recommended by the immediate supervisor and approved by the Human Resources Director.
