Position Overview: The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor is tasked with overseeing the maintenance of structures, grounds, and equipment. This role is governed by applicable state and federal regulations, as well as institutional policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise a team of skilled tradespeople including carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and custodial staff by establishing work schedules and assigning specific tasks.
  • Conduct regular reviews of work performed to ensure compliance with deadlines and procedural standards.
  • Participate in preventive maintenance initiatives and supervise structural repairs.
  • Perform routine inspections of heating, cooling, and electrical systems.
  • Develop and implement annual preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Coordinate the efforts of employees and external contractors, ensuring requisitioning of supplies and tools as necessary.
  • Provide in-service training on equipment usage, safety protocols, and procedural updates.
  • Conduct on-site inspections to ensure quality and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Monitor facilities for public safety and security, checking safety systems such as emergency lights and fire alarms.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory and supplies.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the formal education equivalent of a high school diploma, along with five years of experience in skilled trades, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity. Additional relevant education or experience may be considered.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient knowledge of maintenance techniques and equipment.
  • Understanding of inventory control methods and state purchasing procedures.
  • Ability to operate and perform minor repairs on various electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Strong organizational skills to plan and oversee the work of skilled and semi-skilled workers.
