Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at DeKalb Brilliance Academy. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality, culturally-responsive instruction to students with special needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instructional Leadership
    • Maintain a growth mindset and provide support to lead classroom teachers to increase student access to the general curriculum.
    • Develop and implement evidence-based instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students with special needs.
    • Collaborate with peers to plan units, examine assessments, and provide feedback on instruction and curriculum design.
  • Community Collaboration
    • Assess student performance and support eligibility, Individualized Education Program (IEP), and progress monitoring meetings.
    • Collaborate with families and students to ensure integration of IEPs into Learning Partnership Plans.
    • Communicate with families about student progress and implement school-wide efforts to ensure a supportive school culture.
  • Other Duties
    • Implement school-wide restorative approaches to build community and respond to incidents.
    • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance instructional skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
  • Valid state special education certificate.
  • Minimum three years of experience in special education teaching, preferably in K-2 and/or inclusive of culturally-relevant project-based learning.
  • Demonstrated impact on the growth of special education students with a wide range of disabilities.
