Job Summary

The Registered Nurse Unit Supervisor is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care and leading a team of nurses to achieve exceptional outcomes. This role requires strong clinical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular shift huddles to communicate strategic priorities and address challenges
  • Lead safety huddles and ensure environmental and safety rounding is completed
  • Round on staff to identify and remove barriers to quality care and enhance staff engagement
  • Review core measures and key performance indicators to drive quality improvement
  • Participate in emergency preparedness drills and simulation labs
  • Ensure adherence to The Joint Commission standards and contribute to quality improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure smooth patient flow and discharge planning
  • Accurately assess staffing needs and proactively resolve discrepancies
Requirements
  • Certification in Basic Life Support and specialty certification (as required by unit)
  • Completion of a revised Charge Nurse workshop within 3 months of hire
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (or Associate's Degree RN within 1 year of completing their BSN)
