Procurement Category Manager, Indirect Technical Goods

America Indirect Category Manager is responsible for the regional strategies and procurement of all assigned categories. Technical Goods and Services categories may include, but are not limited to, Capital Equipment, Construction Management, Warehouse Management, Contractor and Profession Technical Services, Environmental Consulting & Remediation, and MRO sourcing. Regional geography includes Canada, USA, Mexico and Brazil with growth aspirations.
Key Responsibilities
Create and execute the Regional Procurement Strategy for the assigned categories for company's approach to the market that captures the business needs and maximizes SABIC leverage in terms of value and synergies within the region. Collaborate with global and other regional procurement category managers in developing and implementing AMR strategies and sourcing efforts that support Company profitability and growth, thus resulting in a positive impact to overall SABIC bottom line. Lead strategy creation, approach to market, contract creation, negotiation and implementation for all assigned categories/suppliers with value creation for the company as the expectation. Assess business requirements, qualify service providers, conduct competitive tenders, evaluate offers, award and negotiate contracts through efficient and effect category and contract management practices. Develop business cases and 'should cost' models for identified scopes; identify and utilize appropriate market intelligence in the analysis, document benefits & value creation, collaborate with the business to understand current & future spend, and agree on the critical success factors and business challenges for each strategy & contract. Challenge existing business concepts and sole/single source situations that arise. Drive continuous improvement efforts for AMR strategies and contracting activities through effective business relationships to ensure compliance with policy and procedures. Lead the change management process through influence and knowledge sharing on innovative strategy implementations. Coordinate internal needs with external market and suppliers for rapid response in a dynamic market. Enable and champion the compliance mind set through a do-it-right-the-first-time frame of business - lead by example regarding all facets of compliance to legislation, standards and company requirements. Minimize overall risks through conformance with Procurement Policy, upholding EHSS standard and code of ethics with business partners. Segment supplier base and routinely schedule and review via post contract management, the suppliers' KPI performance to ensure expectations are met and value is attained. Coordinate all activity with legal and Global/Regional Procurement teams to ensure robust strategies, contracts, KPI's and continuous Improvement initiatives are in place and functional for Supply Chain.
Requirements
Ability to create, develop, define, challenge and execute procurement strategies related to global & regional scope and complexity. Effective communication skills across all business levels, sites, x-national and cross-functional organizations. Independently & proactively create plans and deliver results in a complex internal & external environment. Excellent negotiation skills. Create should cost models and utilize market intelligence to identify and support strategies. Lead educational awareness & compliance sessions - set the example concerning policies, procedures, system usage and best practices in the areas of Supply Management, Procurement, and supplier qualifications. Excellent interpersonal skills. Must possess high level of quantitative, analytical and conceptual skills. Ability to build, lead and coach teams and foster business relationships with and without direct authority. Strong cultural awareness and diversity appreciation. Fluent in English with Spanish and Portuguese a plus. Knowledge of SABIC products/services; specific content experience within any SBU a plus. Skilled in ERP system usage, specifically SAP.
Education and Experience
BA in Supply Chain Management (Procurement), Business Administration, Finance, Engineering (preferably Chemical, Industrial or Mechanical), Industrial Management or Economics or equivalent. Industry experience in Procurement with 5+ years' experience in procurement related roles.
Work Availability
Regular, predictable attendance is an essential function of this position. Applicants must be regularly available and willing to work (e.g. Monday - Friday) during assigned hours of operation and such other hours as the company determines are necessary or desirable to meet business needs
