Role Summary:

We are currently seeking a motivated Cost Control Specialist to collaborate with a leading technology firm on extensive Data Center construction initiatives.

Success in this position requires exceptional communication abilities and a comfort level in client-facing environments.

This role necessitates full-time on-site engagement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducting thorough cost assessments and responding to estimate inquiries from clients.
  • Preparing necessary documentation for team use.
  • Managing document control processes.
  • Evaluating existing cost data and generating benchmark reports.
  • Assisting with weekly updates for clients.
  • Negotiating costs with contractors.
  • Creating cost estimates based on architectural drawings and specifications.
  • Contributing to value engineering discussions.
  • Estimating and negotiating change orders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Providing comprehensive cost planning, including the development and presentation of final cost plans.
  • Collaborating with design teams and general contractors to refine cost estimates.
  • Reconciling changes and ensuring contractor data accuracy.
  • Engaging with general contractors and project managers to gather status updates for cost estimate revisions.
  • Drafting written feedback on contractor submissions, including executive summaries.
  • Coordinating all cost information sources for discussions with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Driving engineering priorities based on cost implications.
  • Proactively addressing scheduling challenges with minimal oversight.
  • Overseeing cost evaluations and conducting valuations on larger projects, ensuring timely and precise processes.
  • Effectively managing post-contract cost variances and change control procedures.
  • Tracking cost impacts and managing contingency logs.
  • Preparing funding presentations and coordinating value engineering sessions with stakeholders.
Additional Responsibilities:Pre-Contract:
  • Formulating cost plans and estimates during the design phase, providing updates at key milestones.
  • Offering commercial insights during design and participating in value engineering initiatives.
  • Reviewing contractor pricing and leading negotiations to secure fair contract terms.
Post-Contract:
  • Executing quantity surveying, cost control, and change management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensuring effective management of post-contract cost variances and change control processes.
  • Overseeing cost auditing and valuation tasks, establishing a robust validation process.
  • Producing monthly cost reports for client presentations.
  • Facilitating timely negotiations and agreements on final accounts.
  • Compiling as-built cost estimates for benchmarking purposes.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in construction cost management.
  • Relevant degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering, or a related field.
  • RICS accreditation or progress towards it is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Experience with large-scale data center projects or similar undertakings.
  • Demonstrated leadership in cost management for medium to large construction projects of varying complexity.
  • Strong understanding of construction industry technical aspects, including procurement methods, value management, and value engineering.
