Clinical Ethicist in Rehabilitation

We are seeking a highly qualified Clinical Ethicist in Rehabilitation to join our team at Northwestern University.
About the Role:The successful candidate will be responsible for directing our Disability Ethics program, providing consultation on patient care issues, and teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. This is a unique opportunity to work with a talented team of professionals who share your passion for disability ethics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct the Disability Ethics program and provide consultation on patient care issues.
- Develop and implement curriculum and learning materials for the Disability Ethics program.
- Teach medical students, residents, and fellows.
- Collaborate with other members of the Department faculty to generate papers for publications and participate in or lead research projects.
Requirements:
- Doctorate or terminal degree in science, law or medicine-related field with specialization in medical ethics required.
- Five to eight years of experience working in the clinical medical ethics field with completion of a clinical ethics fellowship and/or postgraduate training in ethics consultation required.
- Healthcare Ethics Consultation Certification (HEC-C) required.
- A minimum of 5-8 years of experience as a clinical ethicist engaged in ethics consultations or a demonstrated record of involvement in over 500 ethics consultations required.
- Clinical ethics experience in a disability-related field, rehabilitation, or in an active and diverse clinical ethics setting required.
- Experience in clinical ethics with both adult and pediatric populations required.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience on a research ethics consultation service required.
- Research ethics consultation experience in a translational hospital setting preferred.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience serving on a Hospital Ethics Committee; demonstrated expertise in policy development and leading organizational ethics initiatives required.
- Demonstrated ability to teach ethics in an academic or applied setting.
Salary Range: $140,000 - $170,000 per year.
