Job Title: Diesel Technician

We are seeking experienced Diesel Technicians of all levels (A, B, C) to join our team at Student Transportation of America. Compensation ranges from $23.00 to $32.00 per hour, depending on experience and certification level.

Job Summary:

As a Diesel Technician, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance services on company automotive vehicles, including buses, vans, and service vehicles. This is a journeyman position requiring significant technical training and experience.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate closely with the dispatch office and location manager for scheduling repairs and services.
  • Lead your maintenance team in handling both scheduled and unscheduled repairs.
  • Diagnose and repair buses, including delegating repairs as necessary.
  • Familiarity with maintenance tracking systems and adherence to Mid-City's maintenance standard operating procedures are required.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) to Two (2) years' experience as a mechanic in an automotive, school bus, trucking or heavy-equipment environment, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to continue learning a must.
  • Provide your own hand tools required for regular maintenance.
  • Current State Driver's License with a clean driving record and ability to maintain.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Secondary education or specialized vehicle and equipment repair courses.
  • Possession of a valid CDL with passenger and school bus endorsement.
  • ASE Certification(s) a plus - training available to obtain.
