Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Swiss CNC Machinist to join our team at Northern Gear & Machining in Southeastern Wisconsin.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up, adjust and operate one or more Swiss CNC Lathe machines to produce metal components with tight tolerances.
  • Meet production set-up and run times, requiring the ability to take the program and set up the machine accurately.
  • Read machining instructions, blueprints, work orders, and specification sheets to define machine settings and fixtures.
  • Properly power up and down the machine, load and unload parts, ensure proper tooling, and verify accuracy of CNC settings or programs.
  • Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut.
  • Verify conformance of parts to specifications using micrometers, gages, and computerized gear checker.
  • Comply with all work instructions, following and maintaining ISO/QS Standards and Northern Gear & Machining procedures, and quality certification requirements.
  • Conduct all assigned and necessary preventative maintenance procedures, detect machine malfunctions, test operation of machine for functionality and performance, and making adjustments as needed.
  • Collaborate with engineers, programmers, production employees, and management to resolve machining issues, while maintaining continuous improvement, improved tool life, reduction of tooling costs, machine downtime, improved set up time, and implementation of quality improvements.
  • Assist and train operators as needed.
Requirements
  • 1+ years of experience in setting up and operating a Swiss CNC Lathe machine is required.
  • Able to read and understand blueprints, and operate in a fast-paced production atmosphere.
  • Demonstrate physical ability and stamina to perform the essential functions of the position, including walking, standing, lifting, carrying up to 40 pounds, pushing, kneeling, bending, stooping, reaching over and under waist level, twisting for extended periods of time on cement.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to complete forms, input data into computer quality, production, and engineering programs, and exchange information with other team members.
Compensation

The estimated salary range for this position is $65,000-$85,000 per year, based on experience.
