Speech-Language Pathologist Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide comprehensive speech and language services to students in a dynamic and supportive school environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct thorough speech and language assessments to identify students' needs and develop individualized education plans (IEPs) based on assessment results.
  • Intervention and Therapy: Provide direct therapy services to students with speech and language disorders, utilizing evidence-based practices to improve communication skills, including articulation, language comprehension, fluency, and social communication.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, parents, and other school staff to support students' overall development and ensure effective implementation of therapy goals. Participate in IEP meetings and provide recommendations for accommodations and modifications.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of therapy sessions, progress notes, and evaluation results. Prepare reports and documentation required for IEPs and other school-related purposes.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with best practices in speech-language pathology and participate in ongoing professional development. Attend relevant workshops, conferences, and training sessions.

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Valid New York State licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) is preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a school setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and school staff.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
