Shelter Custodian

Position Overview:

The Salvation Army is seeking a dedicated individual to fulfill the role of Custodian at the Lodi Hope Harbor facility. This position is essential in ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of the building, supporting various programs, and providing light maintenance as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Maintain cleanliness of all carpeted and hard surface areas through regular vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping.
2. Perform floor maintenance, including buffing tiled surfaces.
3. Dust and clean all surfaces, including office desks, counters, and windowsills.
4. Manage waste disposal throughout the facility, including bathroom sanitation and replenishing supplies.
5. Conduct inventory management of janitorial supplies and place restock orders as necessary.
6. Assist with program setup by arranging tables and chairs as directed.
7. Engage in daily communication with the Facility Manager to ensure operational efficiency.
8. Handle light maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs and cleaning vehicles.
9. Oversee the cleanliness of the overnight dormitory and manage laundry for bedding.
10. Support program clients and provide backup coverage for front desk operations when required.

Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a minimum of six months of experience in a maintenance or custodial role, along with a high school diploma or GED. A valid California Class C driver's license is mandatory, and candidates must demonstrate effective communication skills in English.

Physical Requirements:

This role involves frequent lifting of 30 pounds or more, climbing ladders, and performing various physical tasks related to cleaning and maintenance. Qualified individuals must be able to fulfill the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
